BECKETT MOTION PICTURE
SERVING THE MOTION PICTURE BUSINESS SINCE 1961
Beckett Motion Picture was founded by Charles and Jack Beckett in 1961.  Propelled by the design of their Masterlite lighting system, the company soon grew into a full service provider of Motion Picture and TV equipment.

The Masterlite lighting system opened the door for complicated location shooting by making use of sealed beam lighting units that employed a transformer in order to boost the voltage and therefore increasing the light level and color temperature.   The system was used exclusively on
a very popular film, "Sweet Smell of Success",  winning the academy award for photography.  The Beckett's traveled the world lighting complicated film projects and supplying solutions for the makers of high value content.

In 1971, the Beckett's acquired the Steve Allen Theater on Vine Street in Hollywood, building the Vine Street Video Center.  This facility became famous, not only for all the film projects that were shot there, but because the facility became renowned for all the music videos that were shot there, hosting many of the most famous musical groups of the day.   The Vine Street Stage served independent production for over fourteen years.
